Baby Anderson: 20 Weeks

How Far Along? 20 weeks.

Size of Baby? A banana! This afternoon we had our 20 week check-up and ultrasound. It was 100%, without a doubt, the most amazingly special thing I've ever seen in my entire life. Our sweet baby is just perfect, growing big and strong. The doctor said they are 12oz (the same weight as a full soda can) and around 10 1/2 inches long from head to heel (speaking of heel, hubby is totally convinced that they have his feet. What a dork).
We left our appointment this afternoon with not only 7 gorgeous ultrasound pictures, but a 7 minute long DVD of our little love bug wiggling around! Dr. Jones even recorded their heartbeat on the DVD so that we could share the entire experience with our friends and family, both here in Vermont and back in England. Hubby was able to make a shortened 2 minute file which we've  sent to family members and are excited to share here with our friends too. Turn your volume up to hear little Poppy's 152 bmp heartbeat just a thump, thump, thumping!

Gender? The doctor is the only person who knows! Once it came time to look "for the goods" down by the legs, he had us turn away and cover our eyes while he determined if Baby Anderson is a he or a she! We left the doctors office with a tightly sealed envelope with a piece of paper inside that my best friend Tasha will read on Sunday when she hands us the correct color confetti popper for our Gender Reaveal party. It's safely tucked away with our poppers and it's taking every ounce of willpower not to rip it open. Thankfully Carl is, and always has been, more patient than I am. I don't know how many times I've said "Babe...should we just look and not tell anyone we know?" Haha! Hurry up Sunday!!
Name? Little Poppy Seed has had their name picked out (boy or girl) for a couple years now. We still love those names as much as we did back then.

Weight Gain? I have officially gained a whole 9 lbs since getting pregnant. The doctor says I should healthily gain at least 25lbs. Oy vey. I'm gonna have to bust those running shoes out again full force come February!

Stretch Marks? Still no stretch marks. Coconut oil for the win!

Belly button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? Happily on, although my fingers are still balloons during walks.

Maternity Clothes? Dresses, leggings, tunics and comfy maternity pants are my life.

Sleep? Peeing all the time, duh, but adjusted well to my Snoogle and getting a good nights sleep.

Movement? Poppy is totally raving all hours of the day and night! They wiggle and kick nonstop, and some of their kicks are so strong they make me jump! I love it so much, I just wish Carl could feel them too. Our doctor told us that in about a month other people will be able to feel our little wiggle worm too, so in the meantime I'll selfishly savor their wiggles all to myself.

Symptoms? Discovered the hard way that spicy food makes me sick. No more quesadilla's for this chick! Oh, and hello heartburn from hell! In the evenings as I'm laying in bed is the worst. I swear there's a little devil in me stabbing my esophagus with a pitch fork. So I just lay there popping Tums like candy. The doctor told me if the heartburn keeps up I'll have to lay off my juicing of fruits and smoothies as the acid may be the culprit. Thumbs down!

Best Pregnancy Brain Moments? Setting my alarm for 6pm instead of 6am.

Mood Swings? I really feel as though I'm much 'happier' and more my go lucky self again. I am still crying at the drop of the hat, but I've come to terms with the fact that I'll continue to be a sap for the foreseeable future.

Cravings? Nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans) and apple cinnamon Cheerios.

Food Aversions? The same. Hating tuna and seafood.

Labor Signs? Still a long way out. Phew.

Best Moment This Week? Our ultrasound was one of my most favorite moments of my life. I've never felt love like that ever before and I've never cried happy tears that were so happy. I'm so unbelievably thankful to know that there's a happy, healthy baby growing in my belly. We are so so very lucky.

What I Miss? Feeling comfortable when bending over to paint my toenails. Ha!

Looking Forward To? Finding out if Poppy is a he or a she on SUNDAY!!!!
