Baby Anderson: 13 Weeks

How Far Along? 13 weeks.

Size of Baby? A peapod (about 3 inches, and now weighs nearly an ounce).
Gender? We won't find out for a few more weeks but everyone (aside from Carl) is still convinced it's a girl.

Name? Little Poppy Seed has had their name picked out (boy or girl) for a couple years now. We still love those names as much as we did back then.

Weight Gain? I've gained a total of 4 lbs.

Stretch Marks? None. And no thank you. Still rubbing coconut oil on my belly in hopes that positive thoughts will scare them away.

Belly button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? Beautifully soldered (yay!) and happily on.

Maternity Clothes? Still in my normal clothes, although I have started to bust out my Baby Be Mine Maternity Belly Bands. Skinny jeans are officially only comfortable now with the belly bands. I actually bought some maternity clothes from my blogging buddy AP over the weekend, and I've been looking in the shops. I still haven't purchased many maternity clothes though.

Sleep? Still waking up 2-3 times a night to pee, and my hips are really bothering me by 5am. Thinking it's almost time to order my Leachco Snoogle Total Body Pillow. I've seen so many friends recommend this pillow, but if you know of another that you fell head over tea kettles with, I'd love to hear about it!

Movement? No wiggles just yet, but I'm unbelievably excited to feel our love bug!

Symptoms? Still nauseous and sick all the time. Hubby and I had Olive Garden for lunch yesterday and I learned the hard way that Poppy Seed is SO not an Olive Garden fan. Don't think I'll have any interest in going there for at least a year. Oh garlic bread sticks, I'll miss you!

Best Pregnancy Brain Moments? I'm famous for lists. I love them. Especially when I'm going to the grocery store. So theoretically a 'lister' like myself would find it impossible to forget things when shopping. Um, no. Clearly neat, organized lists are no match for pregnancy brain. Or lack-thereof. Twice last week I left the grocery store forgetting at least 2 different things on my shopping list. Another time I remembered just as we were in the check out line and had to sprint like I was in the running of the bulls in Pamplona for potatoes.

Mood Swings? Yes, although I feel like I've got a better hold on them. That being said, I did cry reading 3/4 of my birthday cards, and I also bawled in the middle of the pharmacy as I attempted to select a sentimental anniversary card for hubby.

Cravings? Tart fruit like raspberries, sour unripe blueberries and pineapple. Loving tangy smoothies. Oh, and fresh butter scones with raspberry jam and a mahoosive dollop of clotted cream. I don't know how many times this week I've ranted and raved about how dumb it is we can't purchase clotted cream here in the US. Uh, hello! We American's like buttery cream for our biscuits too! In all honesty, if plane tickets back to England weren't so expensive I'd be on a US Airways flight right now. Thankfully I've found a recipe that I'm excited to attempt. Fingers crossed it meats my extremely high expectations.

Food Aversions? Seafood and tuna fish. Disgusting. Also, I still can't stand to be within a 20 foot radius of cigarette smoke. It instantly makes me sick.

Labor Signs? Still a long way out. Phew.

Best Moment This Week? Getting to hear the baby's heartbeat at our 12 week appointment. It was the most precious, amazing sound I've ever heard. The minute that loud swoosh, swoosh, swoosh boomed out of the speakers I cried. Instant warm, salty, thankful tears streamed down my face. It made Poppy Seed feel that much more real and it was the best moment of my life so far. I'm so glad Carl and I got to share it together.

What I Miss? Other than silly things like not having to pee 80 times in the middle of the night or  being able to enjoy a glass of wine with friends, nothing really. I'm loving being pregnant.

Looking Forward To? Sleeping in at the weekend!

  1. You look great! I love your gingham shirt! I lived in Gap maternity tights when I was pregnant, you should get yourself a pair asap. I still wear mine because they are so comfy! Plus maternity clothes are oh so soft, so you have to take advantage and wear them for as long as possible :) LOL!

    1. Oooooh! I foresee Gap maternity tights in my very near future! And you're so right, the maternity clothes that I have worn are unbelievably comfortable! Bust those bad boys out post-baby for maximum comfort ;) haha!
