♪ Workout Tunes ♫

One of the things I rely on most to keep me motivated while working out, is music. Without it I shrivel and die like a plant with no water. If I don't have some sort of thumping beat or screaming  guitar booming out of my headphones I find that I function at a snails pace and may as well just curl up in a ball and go to sleep right there on my Yoga mat. Music makes me move, it pushes me to keep a steady and challenging pace and it helps distract from the fiery burn in my muscles. I love it.

So a couple of weeks ago when I first joined my gym, the first thing I did was create an awesome workout playlist (which is so appropriately titled 'I'm Sexy and I Know it' Baha!) that would encourage me to pump up the jams and quite literally move my ass at the gym or when running. One a daily basis I think of a new song to add, or jump for joy when friends offer their great suggestions (thanks, Alli! I really appreciated your list!) Currently my playlist stands at 57 songs (which is 3.8 hours of music) with a mix of rock, dance, trance and pure cheese. I'm one of those people who needs variety, as I just can't hack the same 'boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom' crap in my ear holes or else I get bored and can't stay focused.  For the past 3 weeks I've listened to it on shuffle nearly every day and I'm still not bored! (folks, make sure to never neglect your shuffle button! It's like a great piece of lingerie in that it keeps things new and exciting! Ha!)

Lately a lot of people have asked me to share my workout playlist as they too are looking for musical inspiration. As I'm all for sharing (what can I say, my Momma taught me well) I've taken screen shots of my little I'm Sexy and I Know it gems with the hope that you can find something that floats your boat to add to your own! (Sorry they've gone a bit blurry, my computer must be PMSing). May you bask in all of their glory and hopefully adopt some yourselves. I promise they don't bite.
So there you have it love bugs, those are the current tunes in my life. If any of you have found awesome songs or have a select favorite work out jam that you'd be willing to share, PLEASE DO! Like I said, I'm forever adding to my playlist and who isn't looking for great new songs?

  1. Today will be my 6th day running in a row! Woot woot! But... I'm already getting so bored of my workout playlist, so this is the perfect post!

    I totally thought I was the only one who likes to jam out to Club Can't Handle Me while I run... There is just something about that song... HA!

  2. Looks like a great list! I'm currently doing turbo jam and have to listen to their music to stay with the rhythm, but when I start working out on my own I will be coming back to this post.

    1. Oh, I'm glad you'll be coming back Amy! I love a lot of those songs, they're really great for psyching yourself up so you feel all 'grrr I'm gonna kick ass today!' haha! Oh, and turbo jam? I've never heard of that! Do share!!

    and, of course, if you're not feeling super motivated, start your workout with The Cupid Shuffle and have a dance party ;)
